How Can This Be?

Many people wonder how I can be an ordained Reverend in the Universal Life Church, (non-denominational) ordained August 13, 2000 and at the same time be proud of my accomplishments during my 4 tours of duty in Vietnam in the Air/Security Police, strictly working Security (WSS).
I was a fast learner and was guided by T/Sgt 'Shotgun' Coleman, SSgt 'Skip' Torres and numerous others that had been in the Korean Conflict, as well as the 173rd Airborne and their Instructors in their 'Jungle Warfare School.
Many scoffed, however I was glad for the opportunity to learn from those who had been through the times of adversity and hell. But they were willing to share their experiences so that I would be able to survive.
It sure seemed like a 'War' to us in Vietnam, however it was classified as a Police Action. A Police Action is signed by the President and is good for 180 days. That was the longest 180 days that I ever saw con-
sidering it lasted for 13 and a half years. (Courtesy of the Democrats).
I was amused (?) as I went to Danang AB in 1971, carrying the NY Daily News. The headline stated: "Nixon reduces the troops by 100,000". No one could answer if this was true, then WTF was I doing in Vietnam again.
Really it did not bother me, I was career NCO it was merely my turn again.
For those of you in the USAF in Vietnam, who were not in the AP/SP Career Field you have my sympathy. An Air Base usually had a 26 mile perimeter, 600 AP/SP with weapons to defend it and 15,000 people on the Air Base without weapons. The Security Forces were loved by 99% of the Base.
I was born and raised Missouri Synod Lutheran, using the KJV of The Holy Bible. I was thinking about becoming a Minister in the Lutheran Church, there was a Lutheran Seminary in Teaneck, NJ, which is where I lived.
